Business Development Manager - NYC

Overview

The Business Development Manager (New York) position is responsible for covering the greater NYC metro market, developing relationships and generating sales with dealers, A&D, and end users. This is a unique opportunity to get in on the ground floor with the next generation commercial furniture manufacturer. We are looking for someone with 5-7+ years of experience in the commercial office furniture trade, with strong dealer and A&D relationships and existing sales network.  This position will be a remote position initially and will be expected to travel locally when the macro environment permits. The starting base annual salary will be $100,000 (negotiable) plus commission (not guaranteed) and potential equity.  Responsibilities

  • Must have existing dealer relationships and sales network in greater NYC metro area
  • Must have a strong network in the A&D community and end user client base in the greater metro NYC area
  • Self-motivated, self-directed with a track record of successful, credible lead follow-up and sales development at multiple levels within an organization
  • Exhibits a work style that is high energy, highly influential and can be an aggressive closer
  • Proven track record achieving measurable sales goals as assigned by Sales Leader and willing to accept responsibility for results
  • Educate, market and sell the value of UHURU DESIGN to end-users, dealers, architects and designers
  • Maintain continuous outreach and engagement in the field by calling on clients, making presentations, updating libraries and providing samples
  • Be a deal maker who asks for the business and wins orders by addressing project criteria with the right
  • Be willing to able to quickly build a team of junior sales associates, A&D reps, and sales support personnel to cover the market
  • Maintain appropriate sales activity levels at all times to include facilitating dealer training sessions to dealer sales reps and presentations for prospective clients
  • Develop business plan with management for strategic sales objectives and achieve and exceed revenue and profit goals
  • Complete sales activity & opportunity reports, sales order paperwork, installation assistance, and sales training as well as maintaining customer contact database
  • Serves as a liaison between customer service and the customer on shipment and quality matters
  • Lead strategic business and forecasting discussions with dealer principles to meet dealer sales goals, establish new accounts and grow existing customer sales
  • Establishing relationships and educating Dealers, Architect & Design Firms, and end users on workplace solutions
  • Develop strong understanding of all of products and consulting services

Skills and Qualifications

  • Candidate will have 5-7+ years business sales experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent sales experience preferred
  • Successful track record of planning and execution
  • Working knowledge of MS OFFICE and associated applications are required
  • Candidate must have adequate and dependable transportation to travel to and from customer site
  • Must have valid driver’s license and automobile insurance
  • Must be able to drive throughout the workday
  • Must be able to transport company product in personal vehicle
