We are currently looking for a dynamic Assistant Project Manager to join our growing Product team. The ideal candidate has an entrepreneurial spirit and an excitement around furniture design and fabrication.  Reporting to Uhuru’s VP of Product, the Assistant Project Manager, Product provides direct and dynamic support to the Senior Project Manager, Product in major company initiatives as well as directly managing supportive initiatives. This is a full time Red Hook, Brooklyn-based position. Some travel may be required.

Job Description 

PROJECT MANAGEMENT 

  • Manage orders of low quantity domestically produced, custom furniture or customized Uhuru Product as assigned by the Senior Project Manager, Product
    • Coordinate between Sales, Design, Production, Logistics and Finance Teams to deliver high quality product on time and within budget
    • Communicate with clients to support the Sales Team with scheduling and technical production issues
    • Requires pre-project quoting and post-project analysis for review by the Senior Project Manager, Product
    • Requires visits to our PA production facility
    • Manage production and inventory of finish samples for material library
      • Coordinate quantity and specification requirements with Sales Team
      • Initiate production and manage production schedule and quality with Production Team
      • Maintain sample inventory system
      • Receive direction on sample development and sample inventory system from the Senior Product Manager, Product 

     

    PROJECT MANAGEMENT ASSISTANCE

    • Assist Senior Project Manager, Product with administrative tasks related to domestically and internationally produced standardized Uhuru Product
      • Coordinate with Production Team to assist in production management (requires visits to our PA production facility)
      • Produce detailed Work Orders / Purchase Orders to submit to outsource vendors
      • Coordinate with Logistics Manager to maintain inventory of Uhuru product
      • Requires openness to various and evolving supportive responsibilities in project management

     

    PRODUCTION / INSTALLATION / REPAIR

    • Lead Uhuru installations and repairs in the NYC area (some outside travel)
    • Lead or assist with new Uhuru Creative Compound projects (Showroom, Shop, Office) and maintenance of existing work and facility
    • Work with the Product Team to troubleshoot domestic production issues as needed

      Skills and Qualifications

      • College degree
      • At least 3 years of experience working in design and fabrication required
      • Experience in furniture or millwork fabrication, repair and installation required
      • Experience reading production drawings required
      • Experience with Google Suite required (especially Google Sheets)
      • Experience creating CAD drawings a plus (3d programs also a plus)
      • Experience with Quickbooks a plus
      • Clean drivers license required (experience driving in NYC a plus)
