The Striper Line is made from thin strips of salvaged wood that are fit together, sanded, and hand-finished. The distinctive striped surface—which is left uneven on its underside, creating a striking silhouette—is then mounted on a slender 1/2" steel frame.
Local workshops in Brooklyn produce scraps of fine hardwood that end up discarted because they are seemingly too small to use in furniture production. Seeing a design opportunity where others see waste, Uhuru is committed to collecting these scraps and inventing new ways of using them.
